what is the difference between an nverter air conditioner and a non-inverter air conditioner

Economical
Comfort At Low Cost

According to experts in the air conditiotiong trade Inverter (DC Inverter) aircons consumes approximately 50% – 70% less electricity than a non-inverter ac ( depending on specific circumstances and specific aircon brand). Considering South Africa’s electricity rates Inverter technology is definitely the way forward.

Energy Efficient

This means that for the inverter model, the cooling and heating is automated in an energy efficient and smooth manner. A sensor adjusts the power according to the current temperature. This is similar to the way the speed of a car is controlled via the accelerator.

DC Inverter Compressor

This compressor is meant to constantly regulate the desired temperature. Although this process is more complicated than it sounds but the essence of the variable speed is not to allow the compressor running at full power all the time it is put on but rather to control their operation as needed.

Manageable
Powerful Heating Capacity

A wide operating range in both heating and cooling modes your inverter air conditioner will cool or heat your room even in extreme outdoor temperature and weather conditions. Initially the compressor will be on ultimate performance to cool or heat the room to the desired temperature quickly and then reduce operation speed once desired temperature has been reached.

Alternate Power Sources

R-410A Refrigerant is used mainly in inverter air conditioners. It is considered an eco-friendly refrigerant compared to other variations of refrigerant for example R-22 refrigerant which is now illegal to import into South Africa.

Eco-Friendly

As an inverter air conditioner consumes less power it can easily be empowered by a solar panel or generator.

Inverter AC
Comfortable
Consistant Temperature

The inverter air conditioner is quieter in its operation. This is because unlike the non inverters, they don’t automatically turn on and off every time they reach certain temperature limits; instead they just cruise along maintaining and adjusting the temperature constantly. The inverter uses less power and as a result they work less and last much longer.

Quiet Operation

Due to the inverter technology voltage stays consistent during operation and does not fluctuate. An inverter air conditioner consumes low power,  so the load on household electrical wiring is very low compared to a non-inverter ac.

Consistant Voltage

Because the compressor motor of an inverter air conditioners works at variable speed, this functionality helps to maintain a constant temperature. This reduces noise during operation lower operating cost. The inverter AC units might be more expensive initially but considering the difference in energy consumption it is the preferred aircon.

What is an Inverter Air Conditioner?

When considering a new midwall split air conditioner installation there are two main aspects to consider ( besides various brands and individual features) namely Inverter technology and Non-Inverter technology.
The DC Inverter Technology is the latest evolution of air conditioning concerning the electro motors of the compressors. An Inverter is used to control the speed of the compressor motor while regulating the desired temperature at the same time. The DC Inverter units have a variable-frequency drive that comprises an adjustable electrical inverter to control the speed of the electromotor. The compressor is that part of the unit that is responsible for compressing the refrigerant into liquid and then shuts off and allows it to expand. As this happens, the refrigerant begins to cool down and the cooling function is in full operation. The drive converts the incoming AC current to DC and then through a modulation in an electrical inverter produces the current of the desired frequency. A microcontroller can sample each ambient air temperature and adjust the operating speed of the compressor accordingly. This reduces noise during operation lower operating cost. The inverter AC units might be more expensive initially but considering the difference in energy consumption it is a highly advisable option.
